Maggie in KS - Adoption Pending
Hello, NESR Friends! My name is Maggie, I’m a good girl, and I’m looking for a forever home. I’m also a bit, shall we say, well-insulated.
Certain people that I will not name have suggested that I might need to work off a few of the treats that I’ve enjoyed in the past. Seriously, how is this my fault? Treats were offered, and I ate them. Wouldn’t you do the same?
About those treats: Foster Mom thinks that I’m used to having them tossed to me, so she’s having to remind me to be gentle and a bit less grabby when taking them from a hand. What can I tell you; food is exciting, and seeing as she’s got me on a diet, I’m clearly STARVING and all but wasting away!
Foster Mom has also really been working with me on exercise, and don’t tell her I said so, but with a few pounds coming off, I’m feeling better and moving easier. I’d love a forever home that would help me stay focused on my new fitness goals!
I’m very polite, don’t rush through gates or doors, respect the fence, and love to go for car rides! I don’t have much experience with little kids, but I adore the eleven year old that I’m currently supervising. She’s AWESOME, and makes me smile with my tail.
I also enjoy walks, and impress people with my lovely leash manners…..until we see other dogs.
I’m very selective when choosing canine friends, so you’d think I’d want to keep my distance, but how will I know whether or not I like a dog unless I go over and check them out? I prefer older male dogs who are respectful and understand boundaries, but have zero tolerance for rudeness and the pushy sort, and am not afraid to express my annoyance with a bit of snark and slobber. If my handler corrects me though, and reminds me that we’re out for exercise, not to judge the neighbors, I’ll shrug it off and move right along with them.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about the big guy that comes around here to work, so I walk away when he’s around…..unless he has treats, then I’ll lower my standards a bit so that he doesn’t feel bad about himself.
I went to the vet the other day with Foster Mom, and that was fun. I liked meeting the new people, could not have cared less about the ridiculous cat that lives there, and then let another lady admire me through the car window when we stopped at the Kwik Shop on the way home. (Full disclosure - she had treats. There might be a theme here.) Anyway, I’m a confident girl, feel pretty good about my place in the world, and life would be about perfect if I had someone of my own to love.
If you’d like to know more about how you could have me as your new best friend and walking buddy, just ask Kim at staroseranch@jps.net or complete the application at the link below. I can’t wait to meet you!
Love, Maggie

Taz in MT - Adoption Pending

|
**Taz is in need of a foster home**
Taz is a handsome tri-color ES with a joyful personality as big as he is… 83 lbs! A big boy! He turns 2 Nov. 23rd and his activity level is very appropriate for his age. This special buddy has an adorable, fluffy ¼-⅓ of a tail! He’s neutered, in good health, all vaccinations current.
He is used to seeing various livestock on walks, goes in to hang out with the chickens on leash and is fine. Introductions to foster's dogs went well and he was fine when introduced to other dogs of friends and family. He loves playing with the male dog and knows to defer to the older mixed breed female. Heads up though, he gets way too excited about cats. It is hilarious to watch him because he is SO clever.
Taz is super intelligent with a good memory and pays very close attention to everything going on around him. There is a strong herding instinct coming out in his play. Taz absolutely loves meeting new people, young and old. He would do well with children if there was appropriate supervision and guidance. He has experienced being in a large variety of businesses and situations and is very attentive and happy to cooperate when approached by anyone who wants to meet him. He grew up with lots of car rides and travels, making him calm and a sleepy head when on the road. Taz came to us with a working knowledge of basic commands. He was quick to pick up heel and loose lead, but needs work when excited by deer, etc. He comes well when called, if you can whistle. Still needs proofing on that when off lead. Taz was well cared for and much loved in his only other home and his fosters love this big hearted boy, but can’t keep him any longer.
Taz loves people! He will love you, and do what you like doing with you. Long walks, vigorous hikes, chores around the property, caring for other animals, city strolls, tug of war, fetch, herding you and your loved ones, or other animals, scent work, agility… Taz is a special dog who needs a loving human. He will become an irreplaceable part of your life forever.

Annie in VT
NESR Annie is a 6 year old Border Collie who is much more ESy than her intensely focused, high speed relatives. She’s a very sweet natured dog who was rescued from a rough situation and it will be a couple months before she’ll be ready for adoption. Right now she is super shy with humans, a little chubby (53 pounds, should be 45 or so), and very curious (but still hesitant) about toys and treats. She gets along well with her new “brothers” and watches them closely trying to figure out how dogs & humans can get along. She isn’t convinced yet, but she has started carefully taking bits of roast beef from patient people. She walks very well on leash, has been very good about getting all the mats and other stuff brushed out of her coat, hasn’t had an accident after the first two nights, and has never barked at all in the time she’s been here.
She’s getting spayed in a couple weeks. Our goals after that are for her to continue to learn to trust humans.
If you would like to know more about Annie, please contact jan@caledoniamission.org Please put NESR Annie in the subject line.

Meet Beau… looking for his forever farm, beach or animal sanctuary.
This 4 year old neutered English Shepard is as sweet as he is handsome.
Kindness is the name of the game for this boy!
Beau came to us from a reservation near Bend, Oregon where he and his 2 brothers ran relatively feral for a few years. Beau was surrendered to a shelter this past December 2025.
He is presently residing with my husband and I near Tucson, Arizona where we are piecing together the story of his past.

Abandonment.
Beaus gifts:
Kind and affectionate once he trusts you.
Very easy going!
No demanding of your attention but loves to be close.
Quiet.
No bark unless necessary.

Beaus needs:
Another big kind dog or two to play with and teach him the ways of canine life.
THIS IS A MUST!

Reassurance from his humans.

Frankie in CA
With a heavy heart we are looking for a new home for our incredibly loving and snuggly dog,Frankie. He is a gorgeous three-year-old purebred English Shepherd. He gets along great with our other male English Shepherd and does well on leash around other dogs, but he can be reactive with some dogs he does not know off leash.
He is extremely responsive to training and jobs and would make an excellent agility dog or working farm dog with the proper training. He loves nothing more than to snuggle up to his humans.
-Frankie is fully house trained
-Crate Trained
- Takes food and Treats gently
In addition to his many shining qualities he can be reactive with some dogs and does not like to be groomed. He is not suited for a home with kids or teens.
If you would like more information about Frankie, please email moirajack@gmail.com and put Frankie in the subject line.

Willow in CT
Willow is the kind of dog who lights up every room she enters, and then immediately asks what adventure is next. With her rabbit-like bounding gait, expressive eyes, and tongue perpetually hanging in a delighted grin, she is impossible not to love. She came into foster care as a six-month-old bundle of intelligence and enthusiasm, and she is looking for a forever home that can keep up with her.
Personality & Temperament
Willow is a high-energy, high-heart working dog through and through. She is:
- Playful and goofy, she bounds like a gazelle and plays with full-body joy
- Attentive and eager, she is always watching, always learning, always ready
- Curious and alert, she notices everything and will vocalize about it (she barks at new sights and sounds, mostly from excitement)
- Endlessly affectionate, she gives love as freely and abundantly as she runs
Training & Skills
Willow is already making great strides:
- Fully house-trained and crate-trained
- Practicing sit, come, touch, and off reliably
- Can walk calmly at heel, though she needs reminders when excitement takes over on leash
- Wears a harness comfortably and is used to a structured daily routine
English Shepherds are bred to work, and Willow is no exception. She is whip-smart and will thrive with consistent, positive training. She is the dog who will learn quickly, and then want to learn more.
Social Life
- Dogs: Loves to play with other dogs, though she hasn’t yet mastered reading canine body language. She does best with patient, confident dogs who can set gentle limits. She currently lives with a 7-year-old male Border Collie, and they cannot be in the same room. On weekends we are joined by a 10-year-old female Malinois and Willow does very well.
- Cats & small animals: Willow has a strong chase instinct around cats and has shown high interest in chickens. Homes with small animals would need to assess this issue carefully.
- Children: Her exuberant energy and size make her best suited for families with older, dog-savvy children.
Her Ideal Home
Willow will flourish with an owner or family who can offer:
- A securely fenced yard where she can run safely
- Active daily exercise, 1–2 hours of running, hiking, fetch, or dog sports
- Mental stimulation: training sessions, puzzle toys, a “job” to do
- A quieter suburban or rural setting (she can be noise-reactive in busier environments)
- Patience and commitment to ongoing positive-reinforcement training
- A crate or dedicated safe space of her own
Fun Facts About Willow
- She loves water, her previous family reported that rivers and streams are her happy place
- She bounds like a gazelle or a bunny when she plays.
- Grooming is not her favorite (she will need an owner patient enough to make it a positive experience)
- She keeps herself entertained with heavy-duty Kong toys and chews during alone time
- She can be left alone for up to 2–3 hours comfortably in her crate and sleeps through the night in her crate.
Will is located in Southern CT. Please go to http://www.nebcr.org to fill out an application if Willow sounds like the dog for you.
